New housing community for Milton Keynes in 2017

Building new homes in Milton Keynes has taken a major step forward with the announcement that Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP) has appointed Morris Homes as the preferred development partner for two new schemes to be built on brownfield sites. This will result in 150 new homes – 117 at Atterbury and 27 at Worrelle Avenue, Middleton.

Work will start on the sites in 2016 for completion in 2017, before which the land will be carefully surveyed and appropriate remedial action taken – the normal course of action for construction on sites like this.

MKDP chief executive, Charles Macdonald, says: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Morris Homes on these two important residential sites. The housebuilder specialises in developing previously used brownfield sites by transforming disused land into well-designed, energy-efficient housing developments that meet local needs. This was one of the reasons that the Morris Homes’ bid was selected from the many others that were submitted from national and regional developers.”

Dave Bignell, Morris Homes land director, says: “We are looking forward to commencing building on these sites as soon as possible. We have some exciting plans in place for both developments. The housing types will meet the needs of local people and will create a dynamic new community for Milton Keynes.”

This contract will also see Morris Homes provide 15 serviced self build plots at Atterbury for MKDP. These will be then advertised for sale to self builders who commit to stay in the homes for at least two years.
